Connect expands engagement between native and non-native English speaking students, deepens cultural awareness, and strengthens students’ communication skills and career preparedness.

Roosevelt Island Art Exhibition!
FRIDAY, September 13th, 3pm – 5pm
Looking for something fun and free to do in New York City? Join Nicole and Jessica for a trip to Roosevelt Island, where we’ll check an art exhibition by Cj Hendry, a greenhouse filled with 100,000 plush flowers – and you get to take one home!
In addition to checking out the exhibition, we’ll explore this famous island, learn about each other, and of course, speak English!

Trip to Roosevelt Island!
FRIDAY, April 28th, 3pm – 5pm
The Connect event so nice, we’re doing it twice!
Join Speech Consultants Jessica and Nicole on Friday, April 28 from 3:00-5:00pm for a visit to Roosevelt Island located in the East River between Manhattan and Queens. We will walk around the island and chat as we enjoy the beautiful parks, historic buildings, and stunning views.
All this while speaking and practicing English in a laid-back, low-stress environment! We hope to see you then.

Foliage Walk in Central Park — Canceled Due to Weather

Meet with Speech Consultants Jessica and Nicole for an afternoon of “leaf-peeping” with the beautiful foliage of Central Park.
We’ll meet by the statue of General William Techumseh Sherman at the lower southeast corner of Central Park and begin our walk at 2pm.

Join us online as we practice speaking English in literally the most fun way imaginable with games like Drawful, Trivia Murder Party, and Fibbage. On Thursday, February 10th, we’ll host an evening of games over dinner, with Speech Consultants Jessica and Nicole there to explain all the rules.
All you need to play is a computer AND a smartphone or tablet. Trivia! Drawing! More! We’ll see you there!

Game Night & Pizza Party!
Friday, November 22nd, 5pm – 7pm
17 Lex Room 1209
Join us for an evening of games, pizza, and snacks! Join your classmates and Speech Consultants in chatting over games like Rummikube, Codewords, Munchkins, and Taboo. All of these games are highly communicative, so you’ll be getting plenty of English practice as you enjoy a classic American tradition of hanging out over a well-loved boardgame. Bring a game that your family plays, or that is common in your culture if you would like to, or just come as you are!
Connect Event # 3
Tailgate Pizza Party and Baruch Men’s Volleyball Game!
Thursday, March 5, 5pm – 8pm
Join us for pizza dinner and a pre-game “tailgate”! We’ll have snacks, learn about American sports culture, and make some signs to show our support for the Baruch Men’s Volleyball Team.
Before the game, we’ll learn a few chants, make signs to support the Baruch Bearcats, and share snacks as we get ourselves ready for a fun and exciting volleyball game. This event will bolster school spirit, help you get more involved in the Baruch community, and will be an opportunity to use casual English in a fun, authentic university environment. Go Bearcats!
We’ll eat and prepare in 17 Lex, room 1209 at 5pm, then head over to the NVC to attend the match against Trine University at 6pm.
